CRG took a stunning one-two in KZ2 with Puhakka and De Conto, while Tiene got the win in KF. Hauger secured the third WSK title of the season in 60 Mini.

The WSK Super Master Series ended in Sarno and CRG scored a spectacular success in the last round, taking a one-two in KZ2 with Simo Puhakka and Paolo De Conto on CRG Black Wheel and Maxter MXS engine. The Italian outfit also obtained the victory in KF with Felice Tiene, who dominated the weekend on the CRG Gem Star chassis. Dennis Hauger of team Gamoto has finally been crowned 60 Mini Champion on the CRG Hero chassis.

ONE-TWO PUHAKKA – DE CONTO IN KZ2

Simo Puhakka and Paolo De Conto have been uncatchable in the Final of KZ2. After being respectively third and fifth in the Prefinal, Puhakka managed to take the lead early on getting past Abbasse first and Ardigò then. De Conto was also great as he put in a double overtaking and started chasing his team mate. Both drivers showed a very quick race pace that allowed them to get a good margin over the rivals and cross the line nearly in a CRG parade. The good performance of CRG was rounded up by the seventh place of Fabian Federer and by 11th of Davide Forè. Thanks to this result, Puhakka – who was at his second victory in a row after the one scored in WSK at La Conca – ended the championship in second position. De Conto was at his first podium with CRG and ended fourth in the classification. Davide Forè also ended the championship in the final top-ten in eighth place.

TIENE DOMINATOR OF KF

Felice Tiene took a spectacular win in KF after dominating the Prefinal and the Final, where he led from lights to flag awarding CRG with a fair and unquestionable win. The Italian driver had the best of everyone confirming his crescendo of performance following the third place in KF at the third round of the WSK Super Master in La Conca of last 12 April and the third scored one week ago in Sarno at the CIK-FIA European Championship valid for KZ2. In this occasion, the performance of another great CRG protagonist of KF, Pedro Hiltbrand, went missing. He had been second in KZ2 at the European Championship but in this race of Sarno he had to give up due to the strong rib pain he sustained after hitting hard a kerb in qualifying. Should have Hiltbrand been on track, the end result could have been even better. The Dutch driver Martijn Van Leeuwen of CRG Keijzer Racing ended 13th, while the British Archie Tillett ended with a good 19th place. Tiene ended the championship with a third place.

HAUGER CHAMPION OF 60 MINI

The victory in the 60 Mini championship went to the Dane Dennis Hauger, of team Gamoto, who put in a stunning Final ending fourth after a comeback race from P16 as he had to close his Prefinal in eighth place under yellow flags regime. The missed result in the Prefinal nearly reopened Hauger’s championship as the CRG driver saw his initial advantage of 80 points decreased. The fourth place in the Final gave Hauger the certainty of securing the first place in the classification though. At the end of the race, he also gained a further position due to a 10 seconds time penalty handed to Coluccio. The third place of Sarno allowed Hauger to end the championship at 319 points and to celebrate his third title of the season after winning the WSK Gold Cup in one race only, and the two rounds WSK Champions Cup.

DR kart FLIES HIGHER AND HIGHER

dr kart sarno 2014

DR grabs the KZ2 title and confirms its place as number one in this class. It has been a while now since the team managed by Danilo Rossi is at the top of the cadet gear class category. Already in Sarno, in 2012, there were several hints to show our success, when 2 drivers, Atones and Negro grabbed podium places after the world final. It didn’t take long for the win to come; in 2013 it took home the KZ2 European Championship win. After that, the aim was to climb to the top and get the KZ2 Super Cup win, which is the top CIK FIA achievement on a world wide level; all this goes to confirm the firm’s escalation in a matter of few years.
Danilo Rossi underlines the fact that this is a team win.

Our kart has always been protagonist over these last few seasons in all the national and international events thanks to the support of our retailers. This last season , besides the results in Sarno, we did well in the European Championship too and also in the KFJ World Cup, especially with Petrov Artem, a Russian driver and Italy’s Alex Irlando, we have always been very competitive despite the fact that due to a series of things we didn’t actually manage to get the results we expected.”

Van Der Burgt has proved to be the best driver in this series, I am however, also satisfied with Davies’ performance, very good in climbing up from grid 24 to grab tenth place after the final. Giametta and Alaimo (Team TomRacing) weren’t so lucky, on their first international experience they were held back by a series of incidents.”

Which is the team’s strong point?
Clear ideas on the work that needs doing. My collaborators and I plan and decide on what to do without bothering about the others. We decided to do the pre-world championship test so that our drivers would get to know the track, while kart kart set up was very reassuring for us. A special thank you goes to Massimo Greco the team’s engine tuner who allowed us to make the most of the power delivered by the engines at the most crucial part of the track near Naples with constancy in performance lap after lap.

What did you think of Van der Burgt?
Ryan is the icing on the cake. His performance during the prefinal was fantastic. To be honest, that was the race that made the difference, because the final was more straightforward… He is fast, presses hard on accelerator and above all, he was always off to a good start.

What are DR’s future aims?
Continue to develop the material and offer our retailers more services so as to get more improved results. Just like this year we have been successful in KZ, now we are looking to get better results in KF and in the Rotax series, where we have good development synergy with the Austrian team VPD.

MARANELLO VICE WORLD CHAMPION AT KZ2 INTERNATIONAL SUPER CUP

Lorenzo Camplese maranello kart kz2 sarno Lorenzo Camplese maranello kart kz2
Maranello Kart on the podium with a great 2nd place of Camplese to the World Championship KZ2.
Incredible performance for Bernardotto and good but unfortunate for Zanchetta.
The highly anticipated race of the season that saw protagonist Lorenzo Camplese for the all the weekend was held at the International Circuit of Napleso where our Racing Team has been able to highlight the potential of the material.
Lorenzo fresh from the triumph of the Italian Championship in Sarno comes with all the papers in order to be able to do well and win in Sunday’s final a great 2nd place framing and finishing the season in the best way.
Good performance of Marco Zanchetta that suffers a bit at the beginning of the race but in the end he knows back on top winning a good 9th place in the final starting grid, where after a few laps from the beginning he was involved from Dalè in an accident that will force him to abandon the race.
A great race for Bernardotto Enrico falling from a bad accident that forced him to retire from racing throughout the season. Enrico was able to come back in great shape and showed that the excellent quality that saw him command the free pratics whole week, then being penalized by an incident where he started in the prefinal 9th and where as a result of an accident could not enter the final .
Unlucky Palazzetti Simone, who due to a penalty incurred fails to qualify for the final.
